The goal of Husky Snow Stars is to provide a solid foundation and knowledge base – physical, technical, tactical and mental – upon which to build children’s athletic abilities and encourage the development of skiers and ski racers of all ability levels in a fun and rewarding environment.
The seven-step program will guide the child, coach, and parent through a progression that is designed for optimal motor skill development, which takes place primarily between the ages of 5 and 10.
Level 1 – Controlled Skier
You are a beginner skier who will learn to ride the lift, stop on demand, maintain control while skiing, demonstrate a sense of rhythm and, most importantly, demonstrate an ability to play and explore on skis.
Level 2 - Parallel Skier:
You can now demonstrate parallel turns and maintain a centered position on skis.
Level 3 – Mobile Skier:
You are now adapting your body position to the terrain and are flexing in your joints to promote vertical and lateral movements.
Level 4 – Dynamic Skier:
You are now displaying pressure on the downhill ski, one of the most important skills for a skier and ski racer.
Level 5 – Refined Skier:
You now display timing and coordination of most body movements.
Level 6 - Versatile Skier:
You now demonstrate athletic skiing in various terrain and conditions.
Level 7 – Ski Racer:
You now can incorporate athletic skiing into a racing environment on steeper terrain and courses, and can adapt to faster speed and challenging conditions.
