The Performance Program represents the top level of athletic programming for the Kimberley North Star Racers. The program provides the structure, support and expertise to achieve the highest level of excellence and each individual’s potential in the sport of alpine ski racing. Comprehensive annual planning integrates off season training, dryland development and testing, equipment selection, fall camp opportunities, in-season training, competition schedules and championship event support.
Within the performance program there exist three age specific pathways:K1, K2 & FIS. For K1 racers, qualifying zone events and K1 Provincials represent advancement pathways to BC Winter Games and Whistler Cup. K2 racers also use qualifying zone events and K2 Provincial Series as advancement pathways to K2 National Championships, K2 Westerns and Whistler Cup. FIS racers will focus on entry level FIS opportunities, Miele BC and Alberta Cup series and possible US Regional FIS events.
Specific training and travel groups will be small and their make up will vary depending on the specific development needs of athletes during the competition phase of the season. Although proficiency on the race course is a high priority, appropriate free ski and technical drill sessions will be integrated throughout the season. Fall dryland training program and two snow camps are available as an add-on to this program.
